The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, leaping over the mountains, bounding over the hills.
My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, there he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, looking through the lattice.
My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.
O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the crannies of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.
Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards, for our vineyards are in blossom.”
My beloved is mine, and I am his.
-Song of Solomon 2:8-16
These are the words He is saying to me, this new year. 2015.
behold, he comes for me.
behold, there he stands behind my wall, gazing through my soul, looking at the burdens I carry, the fears and lies I cling to, the idols I both love and hate.
behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. He has overcome and victory is near. Freedom is here.
arise, he says to me.
arise, out of darkness and loneliness and into his arms.
arise, out of the plans I have made for myself. Fall at His feet and be surrounded by His loving care.
arise, because He gives me the power and the strength to overcome every struggle I face.
come away, beautiful one.
come away, and let Him see your face. Let Him hear your voice. For your voice is sweet to His ears, and your face is lovely to His eyes.
come away, for the flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come.
come away, because He is yours, and you are His.
Jesus, I want to behold you. I want to arise and walk with you. I want to come away with you to love and be loved by you.
